Towing Chicago’s Junk Cars

Today I picked up a bunch of junk cars all over Chicago. My first pick up was a Saturn that did not run or drive, however the customer said it did. This junk car was stuck in the mud with a flat tire. It looked like it had been sitting for years. I was able to winch it out of the mud and drag this hunk of junk onto my truck. I then headed to drop it off at the junk yard in Chicago. My next pick up was a Toyota Corolla that did not run. When I got there the customer informed me that the back wheels were locked up and would not turn. Lucky for me the car was easily accessible to tow from the rear. I hooked my winch up to the back of the car and dragged it on to my truck. I took this junk car to the junk yard in Chicago as well. From there I headed to pick up a Ford Escort from a shop. This junk car ran, but didn’t drive. It also had a broken ball joint and the front left tire was sucked under the car. I had to squeeze my truck into a small parking lot to be able to drag this junk car onto my truck and then to the junk yard in Chicago. On my way home I picked up a Mitsubishi Eclipse that had severe front end damage but still ran. I wonder what cars I will pick up tomorrow?

Towing In Chicago

Today I towed several junk cars around Chicago. My first pick up was for a two car order, I was picking up a Ford windstar that did not run and had 3 flat tires as well as an old Dodge Dakota pick up truck. I had to tow the pick up backwards because it is a rear wheel drive vehicle. From there I went to pick up a 1989 Ford Escort that did not run. Little did I know the customers could not find the keys to this junk car. When I arrived I found the car in an alley. I was barely able to fit my truck down the alley. I quickly learded there was no was possible to tow this junk car with my big flat bed truck, givin the situation. I apologized to the customer  and told them to please call back when they located the keys. From there I went to my last pick up of the day which was a Pontiac Grand Am that did not run. I picked it up and dropped it at the junk yard in Chicago before heading home for the night.

Junk Cars, High Mileage

Today started out like most other days picking up junk cars in Chicago, that is until I arrived to pick up a Chevy Malibu. The order was for a 2002 Chevy Malibu that still ran and had 360,000 miles on it. When I arrived I found this junk car to have 380,ooo miles on it. Most junk cars die out between 100k and 200k miles. Its very rare to see a junk car in Chicago with nearly 400,000 Miles. I took this one to the junk yard and continued on with my day. My next junk pick up in Chicago also had an outrageous amount of miles on it. It was a 2003 Buick Le sabre with 265,000 miles on it and it too still ran and drove. This car had some hail damage as well as leaking anti-freeze. I dropped this junk car off at the scrap yard and headed out of Chicago to my last pick up. I was picking up a 2001 Ford Explorer with 140,000 miles on it. When I arrived I found the car to have 215,000 miles on it and to be in pretty rough shape. I will take this one to the junk yard Monday morning!

Junk Cars Holding up Traffic in Chicago

Today I picked up several junk cars in Chicago. My first pick up was a 1989 Cadillac that still ran and drove. This junk car was a little rough but I drove it onto my truck and was off to my next pick up. When I arrived I saw that I was picking up a Pontiac Grand Prix that had a flat front tire. After assessing the situation I saw I would not be able to get this car out of the drive way, because my truck was too big. Lucky for me we had another truck in the area that was able to come and tow this car. The customer gave me the key and title and we began to hook up her car. Our truck was blocking traffic on both sides of the street and to make the situation worse. The customer was no where to be found and gave us the wrong key. I was able to force the car into neutral and winch it on the bed so we could get traffic moving again. Then I went and got the right key from the customer and we headed off to the junk yard with both cars. I wonder what will happen tomorrow towing junk cars in Chicago?

Junk Cars in Chicago’s Thunderstorms

Today I picked up several junk cars in Chicago during the frequent downpours. My first junk pick up of the day was a Ford Contour that ran but didn’t drive. This car was stuck in a gravel driveway and would not budge when I tried to push it. I hooked up my winch cable to the back of the car and dragged it onto my truck. As I was driving to the junk yard in Chicago the it began to rain harder. After I dropped off the Contour I headed off to pick up a Dodge Neon that was parked in a strip mall parking lot. I pushed this junk car onto my truck and took it to the junk yard in Chicago as well. My last pick up of the day was a smashed up Hyundai Santa Fe. When I pulled up to get this junk car it was at a collision repair shop. The customer was ready and waiting for me to pick up her junk car. It finally stopped raining and I towed this to the junk yard as well before heading home to dry out for the night.

Chicago Heat, More Junk Cars

Today the temperature in Chicago rose above 80 degrees while I was out towing junk cars. I was dripping in sweat after I got done picking up my first two cars and dropping them off at the junk yard in Chicago. My third pick up of the day was a ford ranger that had a blown engine and transmission. It was parked next to a garage and I was able to back my truck up to it and winch it onto the bed of my truck. I took this piece of junk to the scrap yard and headed off to a 2 car pick up. When I arrived on of the junk cars was in the driveway and the other was in a large garage. This garage had two openings and the junk car was facing the wrong door. The only option I had was to try and get the car in the garage from the neighbors driveway. After the neighbor granted permission I parked my truck on his driveway while I winched this junk car out of the garage and onto my truck. Then I went back into the customers driveway to pick up the second car and took those to the junk yard in Chicago as well. I wonder what junk I will pick up tomorrow?

Junk Cars in Chicago

Today I picked up a couple more junk cars in Chicago. My First pick up was a Saturn that was still running, however, had some engine lights lit up on the dash. From there I went to pick up a Pontiac Sunfire that also still ran, but had a blown head gasket and was overheating. I took both of these junk cars to the junk yard in Chicago before heading off to my next pick up. My next pick up was a 1992 Cadillac that still ran, but had a broked control arm. With the control arm broken the drivers side tire was going every which way when I was trying to winch it onto my truck. Although it was not straight, I was able to get this hunk of junk onto my truck and take it to the scrap yard in Chicago. On my way home from Chicago, I picked up a 1993 Ford Explorer that was in pretty good shape, however the interior was a little rough.

Junk Cars In Chicago

Today I picked up junk cars in Chicago in the pouring rain. My first pick up was a Chevy Beretta that ran and drove. However the door handle on this junk car was broken. In order to move the car to get it on my truck I had to crawl in through the passenger door and into the driver seat. From there I was able to winch the car on to my truck and take it to the junk yard in Chicago. My next pick up was a 1999 GMC Sierra that still ran and drove with 255,000 miles on it. The transmission was messed up and leaking all over my truck bed. As I was loading this truck this door handle broke off in my hand, what a piece of junk! It was a sloppy day towing junk cars in the rain today. I hope the weather turn in Chicago tomorrow.

Junk Car, No Steering Wheel, No Problem

Today I picked up several junk cars in Chicago. One of my junk pick ups was a 2002 Chevy Malibu. When I arrived the car was parked in a garage and had some front end damage. When I went to start this junk car I looked at the miles and it had 380,000 miles on it. This car was definitely ready for the junk yard, however, it still ran and drove. My next pick up was a 2005 Chevy Cobalt that had a broken timing chain. I took this junk car with me to my next car. I had no idea what I was in for on my next pick up. I was picking up a 1994 Oldsmobile Achieva that ran and drove. There was only one problem, The steering wheel was laying on the front seat hanging on by a few wires. I had to drop the Cobalt in the street before I could back up to the Olds winch it onto my bed. I had to manually turn the tires to get this junk car onto my truck. After securing the Olds I hooked up the Cobalt to the back of my truck and headed home. I will bring these cars to the junk yard in Chicago in the morning.

Smashed Car, Junk Car?

Today was the day of smashed up junk cars. My first pick up in Chicago was a smashed up Chevy Malibu that had front end damage. The car still ran and drove, however you couldn’t see out of the windshield because the hood was bent up and blocking the drivers view. I was able to drive this car onto my truck by looking out of the drivers window. Then I headed off to the junk yard and as I unloaded this piece of junk the bumper ripped off and one of the headlights was dangling by a wire. From there I went to pick up a smashed up 1992 Ford F-150 with 250,000 miles on it. The Truck had been in an accident and had damage on both sides. When I winched it onto my truck coolant started leaking out all over my truck. I took this one to the junk yard in Chicago as well. From there I headed home for the day, I wonder what kind of cars I will pick up tomorrow?
